ASUU LAUTECH Demands Extension of Academic Calendar as Examination Set to Begin Tomorrow

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) LAUTECH branch has demanded a further extension of the academic calendar, causing uncertainty for students ahead of their scheduled examinations on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. The union is requesting additional time to cover the syllabus, which was disrupted by the three-week general election holiday mandated by the Ministry of Education.

In response to rumors of a possible postponement of the exams, the ASUU LAUTECH Chairman, Professor Lawal, declined to comment and stated that the union had a congress scheduled for the following day.

The earlier disruption caused by the election holidays had already led to the postponement of the planned convocation program for the graduating 2021/2022 students, which was initially scheduled to take place in April. If the academic calendar is further extended, it may have adverse effects on the graduating class of 2021/2022, who are already behind schedule.
